I,ll try to catch you up as best I can. Computer connections in Mostar were poor. We had a great time at the reunion in Mostar. What a gorgeous city. It was nice to see so many of the Bosnians from 2006 and 2007 although not all were there as some have gone off to college in other cities. The Delaware kids acquitted themselves very well and participated fully in the conference although most of it was conducted in Bosnian. After the conference we shopped for souveniers in Mostar and then went to to Medjugorge. That was an amazing place. the town was very commercialized as you would expect, but the walk up Apparation Hill where the visions have been reported is virtually unchanged. the hill is treacherous to say the least with no amenities or improvements at all. It,s pure rock all the way and many pilgims go up barefoot. It,s amazing to see how worn the rocks have become because of people going up the hill (I think its a mountain) over 25 years. Even old ladies with canes climb it. The power of faith is amazing. After that we went to Zenica. It was 4 hours. Eveything in Bosnia is 4 hours away from everything else so I do a lot of driving and the kids do a lot of sleeping. We arrived in Zenica and the kids and Kathy dispersed to their host families. Today we visited a museum, Castle Vranduk and then had a traditional Bosnian lunch. Then the kids did another presentation in a school. They have gained so much public speaking experience in the past 7 days. Edina and Berina are our hosts. Tomorrow we meet the Minister of Education before departing for Livno. The trip takes 4 hours. We are going to visit Split which is near Livno. the it,s off to Sarajevo for another school program, a visit with the 2nd in command at USAID who is a former 4-H,er and then another viist with the new US Ambassador who wants to see the kids in only his second day on the job! Pretty cool. The trip has been a whirlwind and totally exhausting, but I have not heard one complaint (maybe Katie has). The airport in Belgrade will be welcome though. I hope the kids will post again soon, but they are not in homes with internet comnnections. Until next time!
